Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom opened as the first part of Disney's planned Florida project. Magic kingdom 's official opening date was October 1,1971. At that time it only had two resort hotels on the property those were the contemporary and Disney's Polynesian resort. Open with twenty three attractions. Although Disney was a part of the planning of the Walt Disney project in Florida, he died before it started construction. Since the opening of Magic Kingdom in 1971, it has only closed for 5 incidents. those incidents were hurricane Floyd, September 11 attacks hurricane Frances, hurricane Charley, and hurricane Wilma. For transportation to the park you can take the monorail, ferryboats, or buses. There also is a parking lot a mile away from the park for people who drive there cars from a nearby house or hotel instead of taking the offered transportation. A trolley will transport you from the parking lot to the park. Each parking lot has it own Disney name to keep the magic alive. One time Walt Disney said he saw a Frontierland cowboy walking through Tomorrowland, and he said it made the illusion of Tomorrowland with a cowboy not as imaginative and it did not look right. This story happened in Disneyland in California. So Walt Disney decided that he did not want that to happen again in his new park. Therefore, Magic Kingdom was built over a series of tunnels called utilidors, a blend of utility and corridors. These allow cast members to roam from place to place without guest seeing them. Because of Florida's high water table the utilidors were built at a existing grade. This means the parks built on a secondary story giving Magic Kingdom a elevation of 107 feet! The area around the utilidors were filled in with dirt removed from the seven seas lagoon that was being built at the same time. The utilidors were built in the initial construction and were not extended as the park expand. The tunnel idea was only used in Magic Kingdom millions visit magic each month to enjoy the attractions and rides. It is because of the planning and details put in place by Walt Disney himself such as transportation, exclusive resorts, inclusion of history and use of utilidors for cast members, that the Magic kingdom is now the ultimate family vacation location. Also as they say Magic Kingdom is " The most magical place on earth".

book report

January 14, 2011

John Grisham wrote the book Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer. The book is about a boy named Theodore Boone. Theo has experiences in lawyer-life, as his parents are both lawyers. Sometimes neighbor kids come to him for advice. The story is about his involvement in solving one of the biggest crimes their town has even seen.

This story begins with Theodore’s normal routine: visit his uncle, go to the courthouse, and rush to school. His class has been analyzing the case of Pete Duffy versus the state. The case describes one-week prior, Pete Duffy was golfing then he rushes to his nearby court-side house. He then sneaks in and kills his wife. Theo’s government class attended the first day of court.

After school, Theo tutors a boy named Julio, while his mom helped to care for the adults at the shelter. The next day Julio see’s Theo and asks him to meet later at the office. He said he needed some advice on something very important. That evening Julio told Theo that his cousin works at the same golf course as the crime, and witnessed it all. This witness is unable to come forward because of his own personal problems.

Theodore Boone is confident that he can help with the court case. Theo is also very supportive of Julio and the kids that come to him for help. Theo’s friends can count on him to keep a secret. Theo is ready to be a kid lawyer.

I like Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer because it is about a very exciting crime case. Theodore had a very difficult time learning and trying to figure out the truth about the crime. If you like books about courtrooms and crime scenes, I think you would like this book.

Why I Like Homeschooling

Many people are talking about education. There are many educational options, including public school, private school, and home schooling. Most people think public school is the best alternative. Fortunately, my family has a different point of veiw. I am home educated, and I think it is better for me than traditional school.

To begin, home schooling allows me to have more free time and home work is never a problem. A typical home school day is about from 9:00 to 1:00 or 2:00. I do school 4 days a week and the other day I catch up with work that I did not complete during the week. I can also use the extra day to go on field trips. I can choose if I want do some of my school work at night or all in the morning. As a result I can stay up late and sleep in in the morning.

Another reason I prefer homeschooling is my ability to take trips in the middle of the school year. Kids in traditional school have to wait for a holiday break or when school gets out. I can also do school work ahead of time or on my vacation instead of having to do it at school when I get back. I can also do school work in the car. As a result I can do school work any where.

Most importantly, it’s more Godly. For instance I take bible as a subject. Also Home schooling allows me to pray a lot. We also teach creation not evolution, because I believe God made the heavens and the earth. As a result, I center every thing around God.

So if you had the choice of public school or homeschooling give homeschooling a try. I’m glad I chose home schooling. Homeschooling allows me to work in the environment I enjoy. So if you had the opportunity to choose your education I highly recommend that the you select homeschooling.

The Tragedy of the 9/11 Attacks

On September 11, 2001, Al-Qaeda terrorists attacked the United States of America. Al-Qaeda sent 19 hijacker's on four different planes and planned to crash them into the World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon building in Arlington, Virginia, and the capitol building in Washington DC. They managed to completely destroy the twin towers and one side of the pentagon. One of the planes crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The terrorists killed a total of 2977 people on September 11. The passengers on flight 93, 77, and 175 were allowed to call home using the cabin airphone service and there own mobile phones. The passengers provided details that several Al-Qaeda members were aboard each plane using mace or other forms of noxious chemical sprays, such as tear gas or pepper spray was used and some passengers were stabbed. Al Qaeda’s well thought out plan affected people all around the nation.

Al-Qaeda hijacked flights American 11 and United 175 early in the morning. At 8:46 Tuesday morning, fight 11 crashed into the North Tower. At 9:03, flight 175 crashed into the South Tower. The jet fuel in the planes set the buildings on fire, trapping hundreds of people in the tops of the building. Firefighters ran into the buildings to save people. There were people jumping from the top of the buildings and pieces of the building were falling. The south tower collapsed at 9:59 after burning for 56 minutes. The north tower fell at 10:28 after burning for 102 minutes. The collapse of the towers killed 147 plane passengers and 2606 people trapped in the buildings, including firefighters and first responders.

The same day, five Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked United Flight 77, which they flew into the Pentagon building in Arlington, VA at 9:37 AM. The crash killed 125 people in the building and 59 on the plane. Lots of people saw the crash and reporters shared the news very quickly. A portion of the building was severely damaged and fires raged on for days afterwards.
The Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked a fourth flight, United 93, and intended to fly it into a target in Washington, DC. Fortunately, the terrorists were surprised by passengers who overtook the terrorists and forced them to crash the plane into the ground in a field in Shanksville Pennsylvania. The passengers on board started a fight with the hijackers. The passengers were allowed to call home using the cabin airphone service and there own mobile phones. In a inter view in 2002 they found out that it was planned for fight 93 crash into the Capitol Building from an al-Qaeda terrorist that stayed behind.

New York and the world still grieve over the loss of family members and friends that died on the fateful day. Also fear has overcome the country, because every one feels where they are is next target. Some people feel angry and violated, because they were attacked and they no longer feel safe. America will never be the same.

Guinea Pigs

Would you have ever imagined a rodent to be your best friend? I am here to tell you some more about these furry companions, about their dietary needs, safe and non-safe bedding, breeding, and so much more.

Guinea pigs have a particular diet. They are vegetarians (a vegetarian means they eat only fruit and veggies). If mal-nourished, cavies have a hard time being that lovable animal you’ve always known. Right now let’s just focus on the basics of every day needs. Your little guy needs a balanced diet of pelleted food, hay, and water. Some safe foods include the brand name Nutriphase Gold, Hartz Bonanza, and many others. Some treats to feed your pets are celery, carrots, parsley, kiwi, apples, pears, broccoli, and kale. Some things to definatly stay away from, if you want a happy healthy cavy, are cilantro, pizza, chocolate, iceberg lettuce, spinach, beet tops, and the green parts of potatoes.

Guinea pig cages need to be in a cool area whether its in your house or outside. There are several different types of bedding available. A pet owner should be cautious when choosing the proper bedding. There are wood shavings, recycled, shedded or pelleted paper biproducts, grass hay, chopped straw, woodchips, sawdust, and corn cobs. Although you may find these all available at the pet store, not all of those are good for your little furry friend. Pine, cedar, wood chips, sawdust, cat litter, and corn-cob pieces may all cause health issues including sore feet, dry skin, and respiratory problems.

Breeding guinea pigs can be a hobby or just something you would like to try. There are ups and downs to breeding. The mother is always in danger of death in this process. She could become ill during pregnancy or simply her body is just too fragile to handle all the stress. The mom becomes more and more detached from her owner while pregnant. Though guinea pigs have a certain period in time when they are the best to breed, for example girl cavies can only breed before they hit the age of 2 years old(some have earlier deadlines then that), once they have mated it may take an average of 20 hours for her to concieve. Then after that it takes her two months until she is to expect.

Before you take on the responsibility of owning a guinea pig, talk to an employee of your local petstore. You will also need to look more online or in books to find out any information you may need to know about other topics that we didn’t cover. Guinea pigs can be a joy to have around if you want to take the commintment of owning these cudly little friends.
