Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom opened as the first part of Disney's planned Florida project. Magic kingdom 's official opening date was October 1,1971. At that time it only had two resort hotels on the property those were the contemporary and Disney's Polynesian resort. Open with twenty three attractions. Although Disney was a part of the planning of the Walt Disney project in Florida, he died before it started construction. Since the opening of Magic Kingdom in 1971, it has only closed for 5 incidents. those incidents were hurricane Floyd, September 11 attacks hurricane Frances, hurricane Charley, and hurricane Wilma. For transportation to the park you can take the monorail, ferryboats, or buses. There also is a parking lot a mile away from the park for people who drive there cars from a nearby house or hotel instead of taking the offered transportation. A trolley will transport you from the parking lot to the park. Each parking lot has it own Disney name to keep the magic alive. One time Walt Disney said he saw a Frontierland cowboy walking through Tomorrowland, and he said it made the illusion of Tomorrowland with a cowboy not as imaginative and it did not look right. This story happened in Disneyland in California. So Walt Disney decided that he did not want that to happen again in his new park. Therefore, Magic Kingdom was built over a series of tunnels called utilidors, a blend of utility and corridors. These allow cast members to roam from place to place without guest seeing them. Because of Florida's high water table the utilidors were built at a existing grade. This means the parks built on a secondary story giving Magic Kingdom a elevation of 107 feet! The area around the utilidors were filled in with dirt removed from the seven seas lagoon that was being built at the same time. The utilidors were built in the initial construction and were not extended as the park expand. The tunnel idea was only used in Magic Kingdom millions visit magic each month to enjoy the attractions and rides. It is because of the planning and details put in place by Walt Disney himself such as transportation, exclusive resorts, inclusion of history and use of utilidors for cast members, that the Magic kingdom is now the ultimate family vacation location. Also as they say Magic Kingdom is " The most magical place on earth".

book report

January 14, 2011

John Grisham wrote the book Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer. The book is about a boy named Theodore Boone. Theo has experiences in lawyer-life, as his parents are both lawyers. Sometimes neighbor kids come to him for advice. The story is about his involvement in solving one of the biggest crimes their town has even seen.

This story begins with Theodore’s normal routine: visit his uncle, go to the courthouse, and rush to school. His class has been analyzing the case of Pete Duffy versus the state. The case describes one-week prior, Pete Duffy was golfing then he rushes to his nearby court-side house. He then sneaks in and kills his wife. Theo’s government class attended the first day of court.

After school, Theo tutors a boy named Julio, while his mom helped to care for the adults at the shelter. The next day Julio see’s Theo and asks him to meet later at the office. He said he needed some advice on something very important. That evening Julio told Theo that his cousin works at the same golf course as the crime, and witnessed it all. This witness is unable to come forward because of his own personal problems.

Theodore Boone is confident that he can help with the court case. Theo is also very supportive of Julio and the kids that come to him for help. Theo’s friends can count on him to keep a secret. Theo is ready to be a kid lawyer.

I like Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer because it is about a very exciting crime case. Theodore had a very difficult time learning and trying to figure out the truth about the crime. If you like books about courtrooms and crime scenes, I think you would like this book.
